Residential Roofing
Done at Manufacturer Spec.
Six office locations across the Gulf South and South Central. Manufacturer-certified on every major system — asphalt, metal, tile, slate, FORTIFIED, and solar. State-licensed crews installing to the spec the manufacturer wrote, with written warranties that hold.
Who We Are
The Residential Side of Brown's Roofing
Brown's Roofing has run residential roofing across the Gulf South for decades. Six permanent offices in Monroe, Baton Rouge, Shreveport, Lafayette, Little Rock, and Wichita. State contractor licensing in every market we serve. Full general liability and workers' compensation insurance on every truck. Manufacturer certifications across all major shingle, metal, and membrane lines. Verifiable on the state contractor license database; certifications listed on our accreditations page.
Most homeowners replace a roof once or twice in their lifetime. The decisions on that project — material, impact rating, FORTIFIED upgrade, ventilation, flashing detail — shape your home's protection for the next 25 years. We're the experts you bring in to walk you through your options, give a straight recommendation, and install at the spec the manufacturer wrote. Class 4 architectural for hail-belt markets. Standing-seam metal where ownership horizon and wind exposure favor it. Slate and tile on the homes those materials belong on. FORTIFIED where the discount and grant math works.
What we're actually good at: getting the right material on the right home, getting the manufacturer warranty to hold by installing to specification, getting the ventilation and flashing details right so the roof lasts the full rated life, and getting the records archived so they outlast the project. The detail work — underlayment, ice-and-water shield placement, valley flashing, chimney saddles, manufacturer-spec nailing pattern — is what determines whether your 30-year roof actually lasts 30 years.
Most of what we do falls into one of three categories. Replacement — the once- or twice-in-a-lifetime decision where material choice, impact rating, and long-run installation detail matter. Repair — the smaller project where we trace the actual leak source rather than patch where the stain shows up. Storm response— emergency tarp, claim documentation, adjuster meeting, repair to claim scope. We're built for all three, and we tell homeowners honestly which path fits their situation.
Why Homeowners Choose Brown's Roofing
Manufacturer-Certified Across Every Major System
GAF Certified Contractor, Owens Corning Platinum Preferred, CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster, and IKO ROOFPRO Select on shingle work — plus IBHS FORTIFIED contractor credentials. The certifications aren't decoration: they let us register enhanced system warranties that cover both materials and our workmanship for decades. Brown's installs at the spec the manufacturer wrote.
Six Permanent Offices, Local Crews
Monroe, Baton Rouge, Shreveport, Lafayette, Little Rock, Wichita. State-licensed in every market we serve. We're not flying in from out-of-state after a storm; when warranty calls happen 18 months later, we're still here. Verifiable on the state contractor license database.
Installation Detail That Determines Warranty Life
Synthetic underlayment, ice-and-water shield at vulnerable areas, drip edge with full return, valley and step flashing, chimney crickets and saddles, manufacturer-spec nailing pattern and exposure. The details no homeowner sees from the ground are what determine whether a 30-year roof lasts 30 years or fails at 14. We do not skip them.
Honest Recommendations
Repair when repair is right. Replace when replacement is right. Class 4 or FORTIFIED upgrade when the long-run math works for your carrier and tenure — or standard product when it doesn't. We tell homeowners which option we'd choose on our own home, and we do not push the more expensive choice when the cheaper one is correct.
Material Range Most Contractors Don't Carry
Asphalt architectural, Class 3 and Class 4 impact-rated shingles, standing-seam metal, exposed-fastener metal, stone-coated steel, clay tile, concrete tile, natural slate, synthetic slate, FORTIFIED system retrofits, and coordinated solar. Every system has its right home — and we install all of them. Most residential contractors don't carry the trade depth on slate or tile; we maintain dedicated crews for both.
Manufacturer-Spec Repair Method
We use manufacturer-approved materials and methods to keep your existing roof warranty intact. The other contractor who smeared silicone caulk on your shingles or sprayed black goop into your valley voided your warranty. We don't do that. Color-matched shingles, compatible flashing, roofing-grade sealants, properly sealed step flashing.
Documentation That Outlasts the Project
Every project we complete generates records archived in our system for the life of the property. When you sell, the new owner inherits the records. When a buyer's inspector asks about ridge cap age, we have it. When you file a future claim, the photo history is there. The paperwork outlasts any single project.
Insurance-Claim Capability When You Need It
Storm damage isn't every homeowner's reality — but when it is, we handle the documentation, attend the adjuster meeting at no charge, and complete repair to claim scope. We do not chase claims that aren't there, we don't inflate scopes, and we do not use Assignment of Benefits. You stay in control of your claim throughout. (More detail on the storm-damage tier — most replacements we install are not insurance-driven.)

FAQ
Residential Roofing FAQ
- All major residential systems: asphalt shingles (architectural, Class 3, Class 4 impact-rated, designer profiles), metal roofing (standing seam, exposed-fastener, stamped shingle, stone-coated steel), tile (clay barrel, flat-profile, concrete, lightweight composite), slate (natural Vermont and imported, plus Class 4 synthetic), FORTIFIED Roof / Silver / Gold designations, and solar PV (rack-mount and integrated). We hold manufacturer certifications across the major shingle brands (GAF Certified, Owens Corning Platinum Preferred, CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster, IKO ROOFPRO Select) and across major metal and tile lines.
- Two warranties on every new roof: the manufacturer's product warranty (20–50 years on shingles, 30–50 years on metal, 50+ years on tile, 75–150+ years on natural slate) and our workmanship warranty (10 years standard on full replacements, 2 years standard on repairs, extended terms available on premium installations). At our top-tier manufacturer certification levels we register enhanced system warranties that cover both materials and workmanship on a single document for 25–50 years.
- Depends on four things: your climate exposure (hail belt, hurricane coast, freeze-thaw, sun load), your ownership horizon (10 years vs. 30+), your home's architectural style, and your budget. Class 4 architectural asphalt is the right answer for most homeowners in hail-active markets. Standing-seam metal pays back over long ownership horizons and handles wind better than nearly anything. Slate and tile fit specific architectural and heritage settings. FORTIFIED makes sense in hurricane-coast markets where the carrier discount and grant programs apply. We walk you through the trade-offs in person — there's no single right answer.
- Pricing varies heavily by material, roof size, complexity, decking condition, and project type. For a typical Southern home (1,800–2,400 sq ft of roof area), relative tiers run roughly: architectural asphalt at the lower end, Class 4 impact-rated asphalt adding a modest premium, standing-seam metal sitting higher, tile premium, natural slate at the top of the market. FORTIFIED designations add a modest premium over the base material (and may be grant-eligible in Louisiana). We provide written, itemized estimates after a free roof inspection — no per-square-foot phone quotes.
- Most architectural-asphalt replacements complete in 2–4 working days, weather permitting. Larger or more complex roofs (3,000+ sq ft, multiple slopes, decking replacement) can run 4–7 days. Standing-seam metal typically takes 4–8 days. Tile replacement averages 5–10 days. Slate is a multi-week project for full re-roofs. We give you a project timeline in the written estimate and update if conditions change.
- Louisiana, Arkansas, Kansas, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, and Florida — across six office locations: Monroe LA, Baton Rouge LA, Shreveport LA, Lafayette LA, Little Rock AR, and Wichita KS. Service radius from each office reaches roughly 90 miles, so most of the Gulf South and South Central states are covered. We're state-licensed in every market we operate in; license verification available on request.
- We don't finance directly, but we partner with multiple residential roofing financing providers (Synchrony, GreenSky, Service Finance) offering 12-month deferred-interest plans and 5–10 year fixed-payment plans for various credit profiles. Solar projects often qualify for solar-specific financing partners with longer terms. We can refer at the estimate stage.
- Yes — when storm damage is documentable, we handle the photo and written documentation, attend your carrier's adjuster inspection at no charge, and complete repair to claim scope. We do not chase claims that aren't there, we don't inflate scopes, and we do not use Assignment of Benefits. You retain full control of your claim throughout. We're not a "preferred contractor" for any specific carrier — we work for you, not the carrier — and we routinely document and complete claim work with national, regional, and state-residual carriers.
